Established in 2017, the since-annual Heavy Music Awards recognise the best of the year across the heavy music landscape - artists, events, photographers, designers, producers and more. The process involves a panel of several hundred industry insiders to nominate the finalists, with the general public then voting for the winners in each category.
Recently, the nominees for the 2020 awards were announced and we are thrilled to be hosting some of the nominated artists at Download Festival Australia this year! 4 of the 7 'Best International Breakthrough Band' finalists will be joining us and we cannot wait to see them tear apart Download 2020. If you want, head to the Heavy Music Awards website now to vote for The Hu, SKYND, Stand Atlantic and Thornhill, or the other competing nominees!
Also nominated and making their way Down Under is Venom Prison for ‘Best UK Band’ and ‘Best Album Artwork’ for Samsara, as well as Baroness’ own John Dyer Baizley for ‘Best Album Artwork’ for Gold & Grey. How epic!
We are psyched to have such amazing talent at Download Festival Australia this year. March 20 and 21 can’t come soon enough!
